DC Site Services statement – pay increases

Posted on Wednesday, December 1, 2021

Working at an event or festival is a unique way to earn a living and does have many attractive perks. However as fun and exciting as this job may be, it can also be physically demanding and time consuming. While ultimately rewarding, we understand the amount of dedication it takes to work within this industry. As such, we will be making immediate changes to our pay structure to reflect the hard work of all our crew.

Historically DC Site Services has raised the pay rate for our event crew in accordance with the UK Government’s increase in the national minimum wage. However, as we move into 2022, effective immediately we will be increasing our payrate to surpass this new rise in the minimum wage. Going forwards, DC Site Services staff aged 23 and over will be paid £10 per hour as a basic rate, with staff aged 22 and under receiving £9.45.

In addition to this, from next year holiday pay will be paid at the same time as your regular pay run rather than being accrued until the end of the season. This will be reflected in your payslips. See the accompanying graphic for a breakdown of what to expect next year.

These are small steps, but we intend to continue to invest in you so that you may hopefully do the same with us.

I wanted to send a personal message of thanks to you and your team for all their hard work in assisting with the delivery of the broadcast recording at Whitby Abbey.

From my perspective, I tried incredibly hard to impress on everyone involved in the production just how important it was to ‘leave no trace’ and I have been thrilled to hear the feedback that has suggested we were largely successful in that quest.  The way the venue was kept spotless and ‘sanitised’ is a credit to you and your on-site colleagues – so well done.

It was an absolute pleasure to work with DC Site Services again and both Frankie and I look forward to doing so again in the future.
